Mail-in VHS & DVD digitization

Shipping & media care

Your memories stay accounted for from arrival to return

Family recordings can be irreplaceable. Our mail-in process is built around keeping each customer project together, checking what arrives, reviewing the finished files, and checking the originals again before they come home.

Start with your quote — not a shipment

Please do not mail anything before we have reviewed your inquiry. We will confirm the project first, then send the mailing address and packing guidance so you know exactly what to do next.

When you ship, use a tracked service and keep the tracking number until delivery is confirmed.

Pack your collection carefully

Use a sturdy box in good condition and protect tapes or discs from moving around during transit. A little preparation before the box leaves your hands makes the whole process easier to verify later.

  • Make a simple written inventory or take a clear photo of everything in the box
  • Keep VHS tapes in their cases when you still have them
  • Keep DVDs in protective cases or sleeves
  • Fill empty space so items do not shift freely in transit
  • Close and reinforce the box securely
  • Use shipment tracking and save the tracking number

Shipping risk stays with the customer

Customers are responsible for packing their media securely and for the risk of loss or damage while a package is in a shipping carrier's custody. Carrier handling is outside Forever Remembered's control, so we strongly recommend tracked shipping and any carrier protection you consider appropriate for irreplaceable media.

Forever Remembered is not responsible for loss or damage that occurs while media is in carrier transit, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Every shipment is inventoried when it arrives

After your package arrives, the media in your project is inventoried so we have a clear record of what was received.

Your tapes and discs stay together as one customer project rather than being mixed into a general pile of media.

We work with the media as it arrives

We do not perform tape or disc repair work. The media is digitized in the condition in which it arrives after shipping.

If damage, deterioration, or another condition limits what can be captured, we'll contact you about what we found and what is possible before changing the project.

Your project stays together during digitization

The originals remain grouped with your project while the recordings are digitized. If we encounter a tape or disc condition that could affect the work, we contact you before making a decision that changes the project.

Finished files are reviewed before delivery

The converted files are reviewed before they are delivered so obvious playback or file issues can be caught before the project is considered complete.

Electronic MP4 delivery is included in the digitization price. If you choose a USB flash drive instead, the USB is $20 extra.

Originals are checked again before return

Before the return package is closed, the original tapes and discs are checked against the project inventory. Your originals are then packed for the trip home and the return shipment is tracked.

Return shipping is charged separately. We'll confirm that cost with the project details before you send your media.

The goal is simple: the media you trusted us with should remain accounted for throughout the process and come home with the finished digital memories.
